INDUSTRY OVERVIEW
The modular building industry is recognized today as a viable alternative to conventional construction methods. The building fabrication process offers a wide range of benefits to business, industry and government.

The term "modular" does not describe the product. Rather, it describes a construction process which includes design, manufacturing, installation and potential relocatability. Modular does not mean temporary, cheap or limited structure. It represents a fast-track construction process offering unique benefits in a combination or pre-engineered, factory produced building components and on site contracting skills.

Our industry's pre-engineered fabrication methodology produces substantially lower construction costs by allowing fabrication in a controlled factory environment, safe from inclement weather delays and difficult site conditions. We employ a factory assembly line approach using pre-engineered building components. By reducing the number of building substrades required on the project, one of the highest construction cost items (labor), is dramatically reduced.

Another economic factor that reduces cost is our ability to purchase building materials in bulk quantities. Because we serve a multitude of needs, our customers benefit from our purchasing power as we construct our modular buildings for multiple and often simultaneous projects.

Conventional construction is typically held hostage to a step by step process which extends overall performance time. For instance, exterior walls and structural framing must wait until concrete foundations are dry, inspected and complete before work commences. Roofing is delayed until structural walls and members are erected and so on. Our fast-track construction process enables us to fabricate the modular building simultaneously with the site work. This concurrent activity reduces overall project completion time, and most often, when construction time is reduced, so are project costs. The benefits of economy and speed are unique to the modular building system and provide tangible benefits to our customers.

Modular buildings are often superior in quality to buildings constructed on site. Not only do we provide space at lower cost and in less time, we do it with a high standard of quality as well. The quality difference begins with the building materials we used in fabrication and continues through project management and customer service programs.

Building materials used to construct modular buildings are the same as those used by quality general contractors. Whether wood or steel frame structures, all commercial modular buildings are fabricated with top-quality, name brand materials. Our customers can be assured that the economic benefits of our building system are the result of our fast-track methods and not derived from the use of inferior materials. Our buildings are designed and built to last as long as other conventional site built structures.

Our controlled factory environment keeps all our building materials out of the weather and free from potential damage. Quality control inspections are frequent and third party agencies insure life and safety code compliance.

Our buildings are fabricated in modular sections and transported to the customer's site for installation. Here, another quality issue arises. The nature of this type of construction and its relocatability requires special design and additional structural support not seen on the conventional building site. As a result, our facilities require additional materials and engineering methods which establish a quality standard often superior to on site methods.

Flexibility to meet specific space needs is one of the benefits of modular construction. We have adapted our buildings to serve as laboratories, treatment centers, sales offices, credit unions, medical facilities, child care facilities, classrooms, prisons and more.

The wide appeal of modular space in the marketplace has spurred tremendous growth in our industry which is expected to continue well into the future. America's dynamic business and growing sectors create demand for rapid, economic building space alternatives that provide benefits which previously taxed ordinary construction suppliers. These demands have caused the evolution of a competitive industry of pre-engineered building suppliers, manufacturers and specialty subcontractors who vie for a share of the rapidly growing, profitable modular space industry.
